Guides for setting up a firm, keeping client books current, collaborating, closing, and reporting in Wesley.
Wesley gives an accounting firm one workspace for its client portfolio and a separate accounting workspace for each client. Use these guides to move from initial setup to reviewed books without losing track of access, source data, or client follow-up.
Choose your starting point
- If you are joining or setting up a firm, begin with Getting Started.
- If you want to understand the screens and navigation, take the Product Tour.
- If you manage the team, review Roles and Permissions and Members and Access.
- If you coordinate work across many clients, use the Client Portfolio.
- If you are opening a specific book, follow Work Through a Client Book.
- If you are a client portal user, go to the Client Portal Guide.
The core workflow
- Select the correct firm workspace and confirm that your firm membership grants access to the client.
- Create a client and choose an AI Mode: Self-Driving, Collab, or Off.
- Complete required onboarding by choosing Start Fresh, QuickBooks Desktop, or QuickBooks Online. This choice establishes the starting ledger; bank feeds and statement uploads are handled afterward.
- Verify the chart of accounts and the client’s settings, assignments, portal access, and integrations.
- Bring in bank and card activity, then review pending transactions before posting or automating them.
- Use Client Work and Shared Files to resolve missing information.
- Reconcile accounts, review journal entries, close the period, and prepare reports.

Before you make accounting changes
Confirm the firm, client, date range, ledger source, and your access level. AI suggestions and automation reduce repetitive work, but they do not replace review of source evidence or the firm’s accounting policy. A Read-only member can inspect an accessible client but cannot make the same changes as a member with Write access.
Some client-sidebar items are hidden by default. Use Show more or Customize Sidebar when a guide names a page you do not see.
Get help
Select Support in the Wesley top bar. Choose Ask support for questions or blockers, Request a feature for product suggestions, or Meet with support for guided help. For troubleshooting, include the firm, client, affected account or integration, the screen you were on, and the exact error.
