Client Work
Send client questions, track replies, and move requests from open to resolved.
Open Client Work from the Client section of the sidebar. It is the firm’s request inbox for the selected client.
How work items are created
A work item can begin from several places:
- Ask client on one or more Banking transactions;
- a document request from Shared Files;
- a Check details required review;
- another Wesley workflow that needs client follow-up.
Machine-detected generic checks remain internal transaction-review candidates. They do not create Client Work automatically. Create a client-visible request only after a firm user confirms that client input is actually needed and selects the intended recipients.
Transaction-originated items retain a linked-transaction summary such as date, amount, type, description, or check number. Use that link to return to the accounting decision after the client responds.
Work statuses
- Open — waiting to be worked or answered.
- In Progress — the firm or client is actively resolving it.
- Resolved — the requested information has been received and applied, or the issue no longer needs action.
Use the status filter for Active, All, Open, In Progress, or Resolved items. The client portal translates these workflow states into To do, Waiting, and Done. A firm reply moves a client-visible request to To do; a client reply moves it to Waiting.
Review and reply
- Select an item from the left-hand list.
- Read the full conversation and linked transaction context.
- Send an additional question or reply when clarification is needed.
- Apply the answer on the relevant Banking, Journals, or other accounting page.
- Change the item to Resolved only after the accounting work is complete.
For Check details required, review the requested payee, purpose, details, and attachments instead of relying only on the conversation preview.
Bulk actions
Select multiple visible items to move them to Open, In Progress, or Resolved together. Bulk changes are appropriate only when the selected items have reached the same stage.
Deleting a work item removes its conversation and cannot be undone. Resolve items to preserve a completed audit trail; delete only duplicates or requests that should not exist.
If the client has no portal access
When a workflow tries to send a request to a client without portal access, Wesley can prompt the firm to enter an email and send a portal invitation. The selected recipient email is also stored on the request, so the request becomes visible after that person accepts the invitation. Confirm the email and intended client before sending.
