Client Reports
Create reusable, branded report templates and download polished client-facing PDF packages.
Open Client Reports from a client’s Reports section to create or edit a reusable firm template, apply it to the current client’s accounting data, download the PDF, or send it by email. Individual financial-report pages remain the place for ledger analysis and standalone exports.
Before you begin
- Finish the accounting review for the report period.
- Confirm the report period on each financial-statement block. New blocks use the period selected in the client workspace unless the template specifies a relative period or custom dates.
- Confirm cash or accrual basis and the Balance Sheet date mode.
- Add the firm logo, colors, and reusable assets in firm branding if they should appear in the package.
Start from a template
Report templates belong to the accounting firm and are shared across all of its clients. Create, edit, or delete them from any client’s Client Reports page. Select Use to populate a template with the current client’s name, reporting period, and accounting data. Users without firm template edit access can use available templates but cannot save changes.
A report template can contain a cover, table of contents, financial statements, custom-report content, and explanatory text. Statement blocks can carry their own presentation settings, such as:
- cash or accrual basis;
- total, year, quarter, month, week, or class columns where supported;
- comparison behavior;
- balance-only presentation;
- percent-of-income, account-code, and zero-balance options.
Create a draft with AI
From a client’s Client Reports page, select Create with AI and describe the desired package, for example a monthly package with a cover, Balance Sheet, monthly Profit & Loss, and prior-year comparison. Wesley creates an editable firm-wide draft; it does not remove the need to review statement choice, period, text, calculations, and branding.
AI can also help start an EBITDA-style package. Within a custom-report page, Describe a report opens a focused dialog where Gemini 3.8 Flash can define and refine sources, dates, filters, calculations, and blocks before applying the result. The generated definition remains editable through the same Data, Layout, and Design controls as a standalone Custom Report.
Selecting a saved custom report inserts an independent copy into the template. Later edits to the saved source do not silently change that template. Account groups keep separate client mappings; when reusing a firm template for another client, complete that client’s mappings before exporting. Each custom-report page can contain statements, metric highlights, charts, and commentary, including arbitrary comparison periods and calculations across separately dated sources.
Design the cover and content
Use the cover controls to manage the title, client name, period, logo, background, shapes, text, and firm assets. Add, remove, and reorder content so the document reads in the intended sequence.
For each statement or custom report:
- Choose the report type.
- Set its dates and presentation options.
- Preview the populated result.
- Check that headings, totals, page breaks, and explanatory text make sense together.
Save, download, or email
Select Save Template to retain template changes for the accounting firm. Select Download PDF to build the package from the current client data and report settings.
Select Send Email to generate the current PDF and send it from your personal Gmail connection. Confirm the recipients, subject, message, and sender before sending. If no personal sender is available, connect or reconnect Gmail with send access first.
The PDF reflects the client data available when it is generated. Saving a template does not lock the books, and downloading does not close the period. If journals change, generate a new PDF.
To deliver a downloaded file through Wesley, upload it to the appropriate Shared Files folder or use the firm’s established delivery process. The client portal also provides live Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet views; do not assume a locally downloaded or emailed custom package was automatically published there.
Final review
Before delivery, verify:
- firm and client names, logo, and reporting period;
- statement basis and comparison periods;
- Balance Sheet balance and Profit & Loss net income;
- custom calculations and narrative text;
- page order, page breaks, headers, and footers;
- whether the period should now be closed in Book Close.
